Shannon is located in Lee County in Northern Mississippi, and was founded in the early 1800’s by Samuel Shannon, the namesake of the town, who purchased land from a Chickasaw Chief. The town developed a significant agriculture-based economy when corn elevators, grain elevator, and three cotton gins were built in Shannon, and soon railway tracks were laid down which greatly helped expand its industry, and by 1915, Coca-Cola began bottling their beverages in Shannon. Today, the town has a significant faith-based presence in the community, with numerous churches, and events held for residents, which allows them to stay connected, and most importantly, neighborly.
