Camden is a town in central Alabama that has endured the test of time– not because of luck, but because of the strong will of its citizens.
Located in Alabama’s Wilcox County, Camden was founded on land donated from plantation owner Thomas Dunn in 1833 to serve as the county’s seat. During the civil war, the town’s courthouse was raided by Union forces, but because of an early warning, the confederate court files were kept from the soldiers, and allegedly buried in a coffin. Between 1869 and 1870, fires destroyed two-thirds of the town, but in the 20th century, the town again found its footing after the construction of a paper mill, and hydroelectric on the Alabama River, and began to thrive once more.
Propane is commonly used by residents of Camden as a primary source of fuel for heating homes and powering appliances. Many homes and businesses in the area also rely on propane for grilling and cooking, as well as for powering generators during power outages.
