National Propane Day is October 7, and this year’s theme is Prepare with Propane. Propane helps families, farmers, business owners, and communities prepare for severe weather by providing reliable, resilient power that won’t be disrupted by natural disasters.
Propane also helps people across America prepare for holiday gatherings and hosting friends and family by powering energy-efficient appliances throughout the home.
Dear Customers,
As I think of this year’s theme of propane preparedness, I think of safety. I am reminded of last year’s hurricane season when Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton swept through our communities, just a few days apart. Both storms came with devastation and despair. In those weeks, we knew our role as your power provider went far beyond business as usual.
We stood alongside our customers, neighbors, local businesses, emergency personnel and other propane providers who needed help. We kept generators running, navigated tough roads to get to your tank, kept our phone lines open and trucks running to keep you safe.
ThompsonGas believes in community, showing up when we are needed. We are locally based but nationally backed. While our team members are local, live in your community, share your grocery store and drive the same roads we also have support nationwide for times like this. When we needed them, our team members from other states and areas of the country came rolling in to help. It was a demonstration of support I will never forget. This is what preparedness means to me, being ready to jump in where we are needed… where you need us, right on time.
To those of you who trusted us during that difficult time, thank you. We are proud to have been able to help, and we remain committed to being a source of strength and support, no matter what challenges come our way. This year, we are working to make sure you request a fill early, get a monitor, sign up for auto-delivery or take any other measures to be prepared.
Stay safe. We are here for you.

During the 2024 Hurricane Season, we kept thousands of homes and generators running with important deliveries. This year, we want to help even more by getting ahead of the storm. Fill your tank now before the weather is here.
Cold weather often brings unexpected challenges, from icy roads to power outages. Taking a few simple steps now can help keep your family and home safe when conditions become difficult. Use the tips below to stay prepared and protected throughout the winter season.
By scheduling regular winter deliveries, you’re giving yourself and your family peace of mind knowing you always have an adequate supply of propane in your tank. This will avoid running empty in times of heavy snowfall when roads may be inaccessible for delivery.
Before the start of each heating season, have a qualified service technician inspect and service your appliances and propane system. This will ensure that your appliances are running as efficiently as possible, conserving your fuel and saving you money!
Although your vehicle may have four wheel drive, bobtails do not. If you could please do our delivery drivers the courtesy of clearing your driveways of snow and ice, this will not only ensure the safety of our drivers, but will help make sure you receive your delivery without delay!
Mark the location of your tank with a flag, pole, or stake that is higher than the average snow cover depth for your location. If you already have markers, make sure they are planted firmly and highly visible. Should your tank become covered with snow, use a broom to clear it.
