The Fourth of July is for many things; celebrating America, its traditions, and the people that’ve made up this wonderful country for over two hundred years. If the Fourth is your neighborhood’s annual cookout, follow these guidelines, and your family and friends will have an amazing time, from the burgers to the fireworks.
Keep the good times going with a good selection of music to entertain your guests. Many streaming services (both free and paid) offer playlists and radio stations curated for the occasion that’ll keep the cookout lively. But while you’re listening to some great songs, make sure you mind those around you, and keep the music at a respectable volume.
Food & Drinks
Make sure you have plenty of burgers, snacks, and refreshments for your guests, to keep their thirsts quenched, and their stomachs full. Plenty of water is an absolute necessity for those in the summer sun for long hours, so make sure you have plenty on hand, and make sure you have alcoholic, and non-alcoholic beverages in separate coolers. If you want some tips on how to cook better burgers, we have a guide here. If roasted S’mores are also on the menu, we have a guide here on how to give it some extra yum.
Let people know it’s the Fourth of July with some holiday themed decorations for the occasion. They can be found in many supermarkets, and are often inexpensive, so you can pick some up the next time you buy the week’s groceries.
If your state allows it, fireworks can be an awe-inspiring way to end a wonderful evening, so make sure you pick up some whether they’re big or small, but make sure to abide by the following:
- If you’re under the influence of alcohol, let those who aren’t handle the fireworks.
- Keep children at a safe distance.
- Never light fireworks near people, buildings, or anything flammable.
- Absolutely never light fireworks indoors.
- Keep a bucket of water close-by just in case.
- Never try to relight a malfunctioning firework.
- Mind those who might not be participating in the Holiday, and may have small children.
We at ThompsonGas wish everyone a safe, patriotic holiday, and if you follow these tips, your cookout will run smoothly, and not just your guests have an amazing time, you will too.
