As a family-owned business for well over six decades, ThompsonGas understands the importance of commitment, relationship building and being there when your relatives really need you. From 1946, when Dortha and Lloyd Thompson opened up shop in Boonsboro, MD, through today with locations in multiple states we’ve never lost our customer first focus.
A lot has happened throughout the years, including the widespread use of the Internet and the acceptance of social media in our daily lives. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest and LinkedIn, among many other social sites, have enabled families to stay in touch, regardless of where in the world they find themselves. Here at ThompsonGas we love social media! It’s never been easier, more convenient and, well fun to stay in touch with our family of customers. You’re invited to join our growing family as well.
ThompsonGas On Facebook
The biggest dog in the yard, Facebook, continues to be the Internet’s go-to destination for friends, families and businesses share what’s going on in the world. Recent statistics state Facebook has over 1.25 billion active users—that’s “billion”…with a “B”—and growing!
ThompsonGas jumped into the social media world way back in 2010, at that time not fully realizing the impact Facebook would have on our communication efforts with our family of customers. That first week we started sharing we had a whopping 2 page likes. Today? You can check out our Facebook page right here for the answer!

ThompsonGas On Twitter
So we learned a bit more about how engaging and informative social media could be, cutting our teeth with Facebook. Then we heard about Twitter. In October of 2013 we set up our ThompsonGas Twitter page and sent our first Tweet out to the universe….with very little fanfare….or response:
Today, 989 Tweets later, we’re proud to say ThompsonGas on Twitter has a solid following! We only tweet articles, advice and information we feel is relevant to our family of customers—we know propane, and we know that’s why you trust us, which is exactly why we don’t see any reason to tweet what’s going on during the football game or our opinion on that black dress Angelina Jolie wore to the Oscars.
Just as your family members have an open invitation to stop by and visit your home anytime, you’re also welcome to stop by any of our social media pages to check in and let us know what’s new! Of course, you can also always visit us at our online “home”, ThompsonGas.com, as well!
